Karun Kaushik, Age 21, Pivots to AI Compliance Platform for $300 Million Valuation

Founded by two MIT dropouts, Delve’s AI agents master complex frameworks like SOC 2 and HIPAA, eliminating major bottlenecks for companies.

Karun Kaushik is the 21-year-old cofounder and CEO of Delve, an AI compliance startup.

Launched in 2023 from the MIT dorms, the San Francisco-based company achieved a $300 million valuation following a $32 million Series A funding announcement in July.

Delve’s AI agents eliminate one of the most painful bottlenecks in enterprise growth – mastering the complex, evidence-based requirements of compliance frameworks like SOC 2, HIPAA, and GDPR which are required for companies handling financial or consumer data.  By demonstrating the ability to achieve compliance for its customers in days, not months, Delve helps businesses secure new clients.

Delve’s proven efficacy has garnered testimonials from the AI-SaaS unicorn Lovable, Wispr Flow, and Bland.

The company’s customer base surged five-fold in just six months following its initial $3.3 million seed round investment in January.

Kaushik met Co-founder and COO Selin Kocalar during their first week at MIT and discovered both had a passion for biotech.

They initially set out to build a healthtech platform which required them to undergo the regulatory process to become HIPAA compliant.  Experiencing this universal pain point was their lightbulb moment that prompted them to drop out of MIT to commit to the concept that became Delve.

This made Kaushik a double dropout.  He had left a competitive high school to take community college classes.  While attending he did research at MIT diagnosing COVID and pneumonia from chest X-rays.

Beyond the core regulatory frameworks, Kaushik envisions Delve exploring and potentially defining new regulatory approaches to ensure AI development is conducted safely and with appropriate guardrails.
